How Much Is a Scrap Motorbike Worth?
Scrap motorbike prices are calculated by weight multiplied by the daily scrap steel rate, plus any additional value from non-ferrous metals such as aluminium frames, alloy wheels and catalytic converters where fitted. Motorbikes are lighter than cars so the scrap price is lower, but the principle is identical.
A typical 125cc commuter or learner bike weighs around 130–160kg and is worth £65–£120 at current rates. A 600cc–1000cc sports bike weighing 180–220kg typically yields £90–£170. Larger adventure bikes, cruisers and tourers start at 230kg and upwards, pushing the scrap value to £120–£220. Quad bikes and heavy cruisers often return the highest scrap prices of all two- and three-wheeled vehicles.
Cosmetic condition has no impact on scrap value. A bike with rust, bodywork damage, a seized engine or fire damage is worth the same per kilogram as a clean one. What matters is the metal weight we collect.
| Bike Type | Typical Weight | Est. Scrap Price |
|---|---|---|
| 50cc – 125cc Moped / Scooter | 80 – 130 kg | £45 – £95 |
| 125cc – 250cc Learner Bike | 130 – 170 kg | £70 – £120 |
| 400cc – 600cc Middleweight | 170 – 210 kg | £90 – £155 |
| 600cc – 1000cc Sports / Naked | 185 – 230 kg | £100 – £175 |
| Adventure / Touring Bike | 220 – 280 kg | £120 – £210 |
| Cruiser (eg. Harley-Davidson) | 250 – 350 kg | £140 – £250 |
| Quad Bike / ATV | 200 – 450 kg | £110 – £330 |
